Shift Cannabis Co. Represents Boutique Cannabis in Government Advisory Panels

Shift Cannabis Co. is off to a roaring start in 2016, as two representatives from Shift have been selected for influential advisory panels across the state of Colorado. Travis Howard and Richard Klassen have been selected for the Boulder City Marijuana Advisory Panel and the Denver Cannabis Sustainability Work Group, respectively. They represent the values of quality, boutique cannabis and in the advisory groups sustain the opinion that premium Hand Raised Cannabis™ should be incorporated into a realm of normalization and public transparency.

This is the first year the Boulder City Council has assembled a Marijuana Advisory Panel. Travis Howard, also CEO of Green Dream Cannabis, a vertically integrated marijuana dispensary in Boulder, will provide insight as a local marijuana business owner. Shift Cannabis Co. believes that the divide among local towns, cities and counties should be filled by a coherent standardized policy in regards to significant regulatory factors like advertising, banking, and licensing.  The Boulder Marijuana Advisory Panel will, as an eleven-member group, review the city’s regulations and make collective recommendations to the Boulder City Council by June 2016. Read the article in the Boulder Daily Camera that anounced the creation of the panel.

Richard Klassen represents Shift on the Denver Cannabis Sustainability Work Group. This is also the inaugural year of the work group and it was formed with the intention of increasing communication about sustainability issues between the City & County of Denver and marijuana business licensees. The group meets monthly and has begun developing a best-practices guide that will be maintained as a living document. Group members represent a wide spectrum of sustainability and industry experts.  Among law firms, sustainability certification organizations, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other cannabis business owners, Richard is one of the few representatives from the nearby city and county of Boulder. Boulder has a strong heritage of environmental consciousness and Shift Cannabis Co., based in Boulder, is no exception. Discussions are lively, open to the public, and are progressing the conversation on sustainable business practices in the context of the medical and recreational marijuana industry.

The Denver Cannabis Sustainability Work Group is also developing a cannabis sustainability symposium, to be held October 26, 2016 at the Denver Convention Center. The symposium will be held in conjunction with Denver’s Marijuana Management Symposium Oct 27-28, also held in the Denver Convention Center. Topics will include tips and pointers pertaining to input overuse, pollution, composting, and other factors related to sustainable business operations and development.
